Composite poles limit damage, speed restoration times in Wildwood

On March 14, an EF-3 tornado touched down near Villa Ridge in Franklin County, staying on the ground for more than 13 miles as it headed into St. Louis County and toward the community of Wildwood. It was one of more than a dozen tornadoes spawned by a large line of severe weather, making this one of the most active tornado days on record for the area. The damage to electric infrastructure was widespread, totaling more than 400 broken poles across Missouri and Illinois.

Amazon to build new delivery station in Scott City

Amazon is planning to build a new 61,000-square-foot, last-mile delivery station in the new SEMO Industrial Park in Scott City, Missouri. The new facility will streamline the company’s logistics in southeast Missouri, enhancing delivery services in Cape Girardeau, Scott and surrounding counties. Through the project, Amazon will invest $15 million in capital and create 70 new jobs for the area. This will be Amazon’s 17th operational facility in Missouri and the first in the southeast part of the state.

IKO breaks ground on new facility in Bismark

IKO, a global leader in the manufacturing and supply of residential shingles, commercial roofing and waterproofing products, recently broke ground on a new granule facility for its subsidiary, Bismarck Granules, in Bismarck, Missouri. The company is investing over $120 million in the new 220,000 sq. ft. facility and creating more than 50 new jobs through the project. Bismarck Granules’ new facility will supply granules to IKO’s shingle plants across the country.
