The Wall That Heals visits St. Louis
Replica of Vietnam Veterans Memorial displayed at Jefferson Barracks Park
The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., and its accompanying Mobile Education Center, visited Jefferson Barracks Park in St. Louis County from July 24-27. A program of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, this powerful tribute honors the more than 3 million Americans who served in the Vietnam War and memorializes the 58,281 names of those who made the ultimate sacrifice — giving their life for their country.

"This is more than a traveling structure or monument. It is a sacred space, a place of remembrance, reflection and reverence," said Marty Lyons, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ameren. "It honors the 58,000 men and women whose names are etched into its surface — each one a story of courage, sacrifice and service. The Wall stands as a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom.
Since its unveiling in 1996, The Wall That Heals has traveled to nearly 800 communities throughout the country, bringing the legacy of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to millions who are unable to visit it in Washington, D.C. Sponsored by Ameren, St. Louis County Parks Foundation, Soldiers Memorial Military Museum and the Kaufman Fund, the traveling exhibit's stop in St. Louis County also included a Mobile Education Center, allowing attendees to view displays honoring local service members and offering historical context on the Vietnam War.
