LIHEAP and other energy assistance funds remain available for Ameren Missouri customers
Company offers energy assistance programs year-round
Ameren Missouri reminds customers they may be eligible for a variety of programs related to monthly bill assistance or past-due bills. While Ameren Missouri’s energy assistance programs are available year-round, the deadline to apply for the state's Low Income Home Energy Assistance program (LIHEAP) is May 31. The company partners with more than 800 community agencies to help customers apply for LIHEAP Energy Assistance (EA) and additional assistance programs.
Through EA, the state provides a one-time payment for either heating or cooling bills. Those in financial crisis may also qualify for the state's Winter Energy Crisis Intervention program (ECIP) through May 31, and Summer ECIP from June 1 – Sept. 30. A disconnection notice is required for ECIP but not for EA.
"We understand some families may be experiencing economic hardship, and we are here to help during these challenging times,” said Joe Solari, vice president of customer experience for Ameren. “In partnership with hundreds of community agencies, Ameren Missouri offers programs for customers needing assistance with their energy bill. Customers who may not qualify can take advantage of flexible payment options and bill management programs.”
For customers who are struggling to pay their bills, Ameren Missouri offers the following energy assistance programs:
Keeping Current helps make paying an energy bill more affordable. It includes a monthly bill credit between $35 and $90 along with help to reduce the total amount owed.
Keeping Cool provides up to five bill credits of $50 from May through September. Eligible customers include senior citizens, those with children under age 5 and individuals who have a documented chronic medical condition or disability.
Weatherization improvements for qualifying homeowners and renters such as insulation and materials to seal doors and windows.
The Dollar More Program helps those struggling to afford their energy bill. Customers can also donate to the program to help those in need.
The New Start Energy Relief pilot program helps unhoused electric customers return to permanent housing and reestablish service.
Flexible payment arrangements and payment agreements can be made with Ameren Missouri.
Ameren Missouri also offers several health and safety options, including a medical equipment registry and a medical hardship extension. For more information on available energy assistance, please visit AmerenMissouri.com/EnergyAssistance.
