Spring into action and join the Adopt-the-Shoreline cleanup at Lake of the Ozarks

Help preserve the beauty of the lake by participating in this annual community cleanup event

Residents of Lake of the Ozarks are gearing up for their annual springtime tradition: the shoreline cleanup. The annual Adopt-the-Shoreline cleanup event invites the community to form teams and "adopt" sections of the lake to cleanup and help preserve the area's natural beauty. Sponsored by Ameren Missouri, the event provides volunteers with trash bags and disposal services, making it easy to participate.

Volunteers can contact Ameren Missouri at 573.365.9203 to adopt a section of the shoreline and arrange for trash disposal options.

“Keeping Lake of the Ozarks clean truly is a community effort, and every volunteer makes a difference,” said Greg Stoner, environmental specialist at Ameren Missouri. “It’s inspiring to see families, friends and neighbors come together each spring to give back to a place that means so much to us. The impact is incredible and makes for an enjoyable summer on the water.”

The Adopt-the-Shoreline program enables interested groups and residents to adopt portions of the Lake of the Ozarks shoreline for litter control. Since 1991, nearly 16,000 volunteers have removed more than 6 million pounds of trash from the lake’s shoreline. Each adopting group is responsible for cleaning at least five shoreline miles and participating in at least two shoreline cleanup events. This year's program will run through April 30. Volunteers are always welcome and needed to make the program a success.
