Ameren Missouri crews make progress on a new substation in Midtown St. Louis.

New substation enabling enterprise and entertainment growth in Midtown St. Louis

As 2023 begins, Ameren Missouri looks forward to the completion of a new substation in Midtown St. Louis, providing the additional energy needed to support ongoing development in the area. This substation, equipped with smart switches and automated sensors, will create a system that more rapidly detects and isolates outages, speeding power restoration and improving reliability by up to 40%.

"As a part of Ameren Missouri's Smart Energy Plan, this new substation will not only support reliability throughout the community, but it includes new technology that allows us to rapidly detect and isolate outages, speeding power restoration during these situations, " said Darnell Sanders, director of Ameren Missouri's Archview Division. "This project is another example of how Ameren Missouri's Smart Energy Plan is upgrading our electrical infrastructure to ensure customers have reliable power for years to come."

This represents an investment of more than $13 million in the Midtown area, helping power the next stage of development in one of the city's fastest growing areas. Customers at the Armory, City Foundry and CORTEX center, in addition to the surrounding region, will benefit from an enhanced, more resilient grid and the continued delivery of affordable, reliable electricity.
