Company receives approval for third solar site dedicated to serving Community Solar program

Ameren Missouri announces the company is moving forward with building a third solar facility to meet the growing demand from customers looking to receive up to 100% of their energy from a renewable resource. This latest site, which was recently approved by the Missouri Public Service Commission, is part of Ameren Missouri's Community Solar program. The 7-megawatt energy center will be located alongside the existing Montgomery Community Solar Center in New Florence, an hour west of St. Louis.

Company announces up to $200,000 match as part of its annual Thanks for Giving Community Challenge Grant

This November, Ameren is once again kicking off its Thanks for Giving Community Challenge Grant to help feed families throughout Missouri and Illinois. As part of the event, Ameren is matching all donations made to the St. Louis Area Foodbank, up to $200,000. This year, the goal is to rase a total of $500,000 in foodbank donations, which is equivalent to approximately 1.5 million meals.

Ameren Missouri hosts members of the Missouri General Assembly during tour of its nuclear power plant

Incoming and returning members of the Missouri General Assembly recently received a behind-the-scenes tour of Ameren Missouri's Callaway Energy Center. The only nuclear power plant in Ameren Missouri's fleet, the 1,284 MW-generating energy center was declared operational in 1984. Located in Callaway County, the nuclear plant sits 25 miles northeast of Jefferson City. Prior to the construction of the plant, more than 70 sites were considered across four states before the current site in Callaway County was selected for the energy center.

Smart switches to support faster outage restoration in Clay County

Thousands of Ameren Missouri customers throughout western Missouri are set to benefit from the completion of several projects aiming to make the energy grid more reliable. Through its Smart Energy Plan, Ameren Missouri is installing or upgrading nearly a dozen smart switch devices in the Excelsior Springs area. These pole-mounted devices are designed to instantly detect a problem on the power line, like a downed tree branch, and automatically reroute power until the issue is resolved. Thanks to this smart technology, customers who previously had to endure hours or days of outages may see their power restored in minutes, even seconds.
