Last call to apply for Ameren Missouri’s EV charging station cost-share program

Applications for the company’s Charge Ahead program are due by the end of September

Ameren Missouri announces applications for its Charge Ahead program are due by Sept. 30. The program has approximately $700,000 remaining to help cover part of the costs for customers planning to install EV charging stations at multifamily locations or for public use.

“We've seen tremendous success with our Charge Ahead program over the years,” said Becky Whitman, business development manager at Ameren Missouri. “Participating customers have seen it as a win-win for them because these charging stations can bring in additional revenue and dwell times for their businesses or attract new tenants to their rental properties.”

Today, more than 2,000 EV charging ports can be found throughout Missouri.

Since 2020, the Charge Ahead program has accelerated the development of EV charging station infrastructure within Ameren Missouri’s service territory. Through the program, the company has successfully installed more than 800 EV charging ports, with another 400 ports planned for installation by the end of the year.

Incentives from Ameren Missouri include up to 50% off the total project cost, or $5,000 for Level 2 ports and $20,000 for Level 3 ports (also known as DC Fast Chargers). The maximum number of qualifying ports at each premise will vary based upon the business type.

By leveraging these incentives alongside federal tax credits, such as the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit, eligible customers can save up to 80% off project costs. To be eligible to participate in the program, qualifying projects must be pre-approved by Ameren Missouri prior to the start of construction.
