Spring into action and help cleanup Lake of the Ozarks
Ameren Missouri calls on Lake of the Ozarks residents to help clean trash from the lake's shoreline
Spring is here, which means hundreds of Lake of the Ozarks residents will soon be gathering outdoors to clean trash and debris from the shoreline. The annual Adopt-the-Shoreline spring cleanup offers community members the chance to register a team and “adopt” a section of lake shoreline. Ameren Missouri, the event’s primary sponsor, is supplying trash bags and trash disposal options for those participating in the lakeside cleanup.
Volunteers clean up a section of shoreline at Lake of the Ozarks during a previous edition of the Adopt-the-Shoreline event.
“Our collective efforts create a profound impact when everyone lends a hand,” said Greg Stoner, environmental specialist at Ameren Missouri. “It’s an opportunity for families and friends to give back to this place, which holds so many memories for all of us.”
The Adopt-the-Shoreline program enables interested groups and residents to adopt portions of the Lake of the Ozarks shoreline for litter control. Since 1991, more than 14,000 volunteers have removed more than 5.5 million pounds of trash from the lake’s shoreline. Each adopting group is responsible for cleaning at least 5 shoreline miles and participating in at least two shoreline cleanup events.
Volunteers can contact Ameren Missouri at 573.365.9203 to adopt a section of the shoreline and arrange for trash disposal options. The program will run through April 30.
