Missouri Governor celebrated Careers in Energy Week

Governor Mike Kehoe issued proclamation recognizing the importance of careers in energy

Throughout the country, Oct. 20-24 marked Careers in Energy Week. Supported by the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD), the week raised awareness of the rewarding job opportunities available in the energy industry. According to the CEWD, the energy industry expects to fill 215,000 positions in the next three years. These include roles in skilled trades, business, engineering, operations and more. To help raise awareness about these job opportunities, Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe issued a proclamation recognizing Oct. 20-24 as Careers in Energy Week throughout the state.

Careers in Energy Week was created by CEWD in 2010 and is celebrated annually in October.

In his proclamation, the governor recognized the importance of the energy industry and encouraged all Missourians to become familiar with the services and benefits offered by the career and technical education programs in the state and to support and participate in these programs to enhance their individual work skills and productivity.

"We are thankful for the governor's proclamation in recognizing Oct. 20-24 as Careers in Energy Week in Missouri," said Jaimee Conley, manager of Talent Enablement and Pipeline Programs for Ameren. "As we work with other utilities in Missouri to build a skilled and inclusive pipeline of talent, we are excited and thankful to see the governor also recognizes this need and the important role a skilled workforce plays in moving Missouri forward."
