The Greater Montgomery County Economic Development Council (EDC) recently announced it is advancing a strategic partnership with Amazon as they work toward finalizing plans for a data center campus in Montgomery County.
“Missouri stands ready to welcome this new investment that will bring economic growth and opportunity to Montgomery County residents,” said Gov. Mike Kehoe. “Local support and collaboration are critical to the success of this partnership, and we believe this investment from Amazon will support high-wage jobs, generate millions in construction-related spending and strengthen the economic foundation for long-term success in the region. This proposed project demonstrates the confidence that leading companies have in our people, our infrastructure and our pro-business environment.”
Over the past several months, the EDC collaborated with local community leaders to review a proposed site for the data center campus, working to ensure it reflects Montgomery County’s local character, supports smart and responsible growth and positions the region for long-term success. Amazon’s strong interest in Montgomery County is driven by the area's talented workforce, reliable infrastructure, available land and pro-business climate.
“As the economic development entity responsible for business attraction in Montgomery County, the EDC is excited about the opportunity to work with Amazon on this transformational project,” said Brent Speight, president of the EDC. “This project will provide long-term benefits and exceptional opportunities for our community, and we look forward to what’s ahead.”
Through this partnership, Amazon is in the final stages of evaluating a potential site for the project in Montgomery County. If the project were to come to fruition, it has the capability of providing significant benefits to the area. These include new construction and long-term technology jobs; expanded opportunities for local contractors and small businesses; and additional tax revenue to support community services, education, public safety and more.
