Improving reliability at Lake of the Ozarks

Ameren Missouri's Smart Energy Plan provides critical infrastructure upgrades to customers throughout its service territory

Through the Smart Energy Plan, Ameren Missouri is investing more than $14 million in Lake of the Ozarks to improve reliability for more than 2,000 homes and businesses throughout the area. As a result of more residents spending their winters at the Lake, the electric grid in the area was experiencing problems due to high energy usage during the colder months. To support this growing community, Ameren installed a new substation for the area. This new substation also features automated sensors and smart technology equipment, giving Ameren the ability to rapidly detect outages, reroute power and restore service.

Since the Smart Energy Plan was enacted in 2018, Ameren Missouri has invested more than $3.2 billion in capital projects, attracting new businesses to the Show-Me State and creating thousands of good-paying jobs. Ranging from the installation of smart meters and switches to new and upgraded substations, these projects have been vital in creating a more reliable and resilient energy grid.
