Powering a brighter future for North St. Louis

Delmar DivINe, Ameren Missouri complete solar project

Delmar DivINe’s latest contribution to St. Louis begins every day as soon as the sun rises over the horizon. New solar panels, installed by Ameren Missouri, are now generating renewable energy on the nonprofit campus’ parking lot in St. Louis' West End neighborhood.

"This partnership between Ameren Missouri and Delmar DivINe is one of the innovative ways we're supporting renewable energy for our customers," said Mark Birk, president of Ameren Missouri. "These solar arrays are the result of investments we're making to upgrade Missouri's energy infrastructure through our Smart Energy Plan, helping us create a more resilient, reliable and sustainable energy grid."

The solar installation at Delmar DivINe includes more than 800 solar panels.

In the next year, these solar panels are expected to generate enough energy to power more than 30 homes. The panels will also provide shade and weather protection for almost 200 employees and visitors at the nonprofit's facility.

“We want Delmar DivINe to be a catalyst for community development and social improvement north of Delmar Boulevard,” said Jorge Riopedre, executive director at Delmar DivINe. “Our partnership with Ameren Missouri will allow us to further serve these communities by supporting clean energy generation across St. Louis.”

Delmar DivINe provides shared space and capacity-building programs for 39 nonprofit and retail tenants that deliver a variety of social services, as well as financial and career assistance to the community. Delmar DivINe is committed to working with residents of North St. Louis City to support economic growth and expand resources for underserved neighborhoods.

The solar installation at Delmar DivINe is part of Ameren Missouri's Neighborhood Solar program. In addition to providing sources of renewable energy, these projects also create local jobs and provide valuable training opportunities for the installation and maintenance of solar panels.
