Ameren Missouri holds media/stakeholder event at new Community Solar facility in Montgomery County

On Jan. 18 local-elected officials and other key stakeholders attended a viewing of the new Ameren Missouri Community Solar project that's being constructed near New Florence, on the north side of I-70 in Montgomery County.

The Montgomery County Community Solar Center will be Ameren Missouri's largest solar facility to date. Construction is possible thanks to the interest of more than 2,000 Ameren Missouri customers who wanted to take part in clean energy generation. The project is the next step in Ameren Missouri's commitment to clean energy.

The six-megawatt site is being constructed on Ameren Missouri-owned land. The project is expected to be completed and in service near the end of March. It will provide enough energy to meet the needs of more than 2,000 customers who signed up to participate in the Community Solar program. And there is additional land at this location for future clean energy expansion.

The Community Solar program remains very popular and is something Ameren Missouri customers value. Community Solar provides customers the ability to take part in clean energy without installing solar panels on their own property, homes, or businesses. The program benefits customers by helping them avoid the restraints often experienced when solar energy is being considered, such as customers who don't own their home, shade from trees or other buildings, and even homeowner association restrictions.

The Montgomery County facility builds on the success of the Lambert Community Solar site, which repurposed land that was otherwise difficult to develop due to its location near the airport.

Customer demand for the next phase of Community Solar continues to grow, with more than 750 customers on the waiting list for access to a community facility.

Customers (residential or small business) are encouraged to contact Ameren Missouri to join the waitlist (through the Program Dashboard on their Ameren.com online account).
