Ameren Missouri joins thousands for Salute to America celebration in Jefferson City
Those attending the Independence Day festivities at the state capital had an extra reason to celebrate this year as it is Missouri's bicentennial. Ameren Missouri, the title sponsor of the Salute to America celebration, joined thousands of residents and visitors this past weekend to mark many years of community partnership and another milestone in the state's history.
"At Ameren Missouri, we believe that empowering our communities is just as impactful as powering them," said Warren Wood, vice president, regulatory and legislative affairs, Ameren Missouri. "We are committed to providing more reliable and cleaner energy delivery through our Smart Energy Plan by strengthening the grid, including a project right here in downtown Jefferson City. We are also committed to making our communities a better and brighter place to live, work and visit. The Bicentennial Bridge connecting visitors and local families to Adrian's Island is the perfect example."
Several months ago, Ameren Missouri proudly contributed an in-kind donation to the Bicentennial Bridge project by safely removing and relocating existing utility infrastructure to allow the bridge construction to continue. Once construction is complete, the pedestrian and bike path will link the Capitol complex with Adrian's Island, offering visitors the opportunity to experience the Missouri River waterfront in a culturally enriching way through historic education installations, leisure activity space, and more.
Missouri State Sen. Mike Bernskoetter (R-6, Jefferson City) was also on hand for the celebration. "I want to thank Ameren Missouri for being a tremendous community partner," said Bernskoetter. "From boosting reliability for the state Capitol and other businesses in the downtown Jefferson City area through their Smart Energy Plan to offering energy assistance to our neighbors in need, Ameren Missouri not only serves our community, they are part of our community."
