Ameren Missouri recently partnered with the North County Police Cooperative to provide LED lights to customers. The lights are being distributed in seven municipalities that are served by the co-op, which includes Wellston, Pine Lawn, Vinita Park, Beverly Hills, Velda Village Hills, Dellwood, and Uplands Park. The co-op’s approximately 60 police officers focus both on protecting the community and community engagement.

"As a company, we are proud to partner with communities and organizations to assist our customers on energy efficiency as well as contribute to public safety by providing LED porch lights," said Marco Tipton, community development executive at Ameren Missouri.

Beyond Housing, a St. Louis-based community development organization, also participated in this initiative.

LED bulbs use roughly 55-65 percent less energy, last three to four times longer, and require less maintenance than older technology. They produce more light per watt than traditional lights, create a higher quality color, and are made without the use of toxic chemicals.
