Company Debuts New Contractor Qualification Process

Ameren Missouri's Smart Energy Plan, made possible by a new state law, is accelerating upgrades of more than $1 billion in energy grid projects throughout Missouri, which translates to thousands of additional jobs.

To meet project demands, Ameren Missouri has launched a new online contractor qualification webpage to assist potential contractors who are interested in bidding on these projects.

"Contractors play an important role in Ameren's workforce, and we rely heavily on maintaining an expansive list of contractors to meet the company's growing project needs," said Mark Brandt, senior director of Supply Services. "This new online qualification process should provide additional opportunities for contractors looking to get prequalified for work."

The Smart Energy Plan was developed to implement customer benefits related to a new energy law that went into effect in August. The first consumer benefit of this plan was an approximately 6 percent rate cut on Aug. 1, which is lowering Ameren Missouri customers' energy bills. In addition, the plan includes a rate freeze until at least April 2020 and a hard rate cap of 2.85 percent annually for the next five years. The plan also provides economic development rate incentives for industrial customers and provisions to expand clean energy through more solar generation.

To support the more than $1 billion in additional infrastructure upgrades, Ameren Missouri is interested in hiring contractors who specialize in Directional Boring Services, Hydro Excavation Services, Underground Cabling Installation Services, Underground Duct Bank Installation Service and Overhead Line Electrical Installation Services.
