Smart technology helps thousands avoid outages during May 16 tornado

When an EF-3 tornado tore through the St. Louis region on May 16, it left behind a trail of devastation — damaged homes, downed trees and a battered electric grid. Following the aftermath of the storm, more than 2,000 personnel, from throughout the Midwest, descended upon the worst-hit areas of St. Louis to assess the damage, remove debris and restore power to those affected by the tornado. This monumental task included rebuilding more than 100 miles of damaged electric lines and replacing more than 800 power poles affected by the storm. Despite the challenges posed by storm debris, crews were able to safely restore power to more than 100,000 customers in the first 48 hours following the tornado's touchdown.

Ameren Missouri donates 900 air conditioners to Cooldownstlouis.org

In preparation for the hot summer weeks ahead, Ameren Missouri donated 900 ENERGY STAR certified window air conditioners to Cooldownstlouis.org and Cooldownmissouri.org to support the company’s most vulnerable customers in St. Louis and throughout Missouri. On average, energy-efficient air conditioners cost less than a dollar a day to operate, allowing customers to stay cool and safe.

Governor Mike Kehoe signs FY 2026 state budget into law

On June 30, Gov. Mike Kehoe put his stamp of approval on a series of bills that make up the state's operating and capital improvement budget for the 2026 fiscal year. Totaling more than $50 billion, the budget bills allocate funding for state departments and capital improvement projects throughout Missouri.
