Lawmakers tour Callaway Energy Center

On Thursday, March 7, members and staff of the Missouri General Assembly toured Ameren Missouri's Callaway Energy Center. The only nuclear plant in Ameren Missouri's fleet, the 1,194 MW-generating energy center was declared operational in 1984. Located in Callaway County, the nuclear plant sits 25 miles northeast of Jefferson City.

Smart Energy Plan upgrades support reliability in North St. Louis County

Through its Smart Energy Plan, Ameren Missouri is upgrading outdated equipment and supporting improved reliability for its customers in North St. Louis County. In Florissant, crews replaced a 50-year-old transformer with a new, larger capacity transformer capable of handling higher energy loads during peak use in the summer and winter.

New equipment to improve restoration times For Ameren customers after major storms

Ameren has added two specially designed Mobile Command Center trailers to its fleet to coordinate crews and materials in the aftermath of a storm. The 24-foot-by-8-foot trailers can be pulled behind an Ameren utility truck and are climate controlled and equipped with high-speed internet access, computer workstations, a generator, technology for viewing real-time drone footage of storm damage and an awning to provide outside cover.

New substation supports greater reliability in Jefferson County

One of Ameren Missouri’s newest substations is bringing more reliable service to the people of eastern Jefferson County. The original Horine substation served parts of Pevely and Herculaneum for more than 50 years. Since it was first built in the 1970s, the population in the area has more than doubled.
