Learn More about the Rock Island Trail Project

The Rock Island Trail project will transform an old, abandoned rail bank into a beautiful bike path and nature trail. This rail bank that once transported railroad cars filled with coal will be harvested for recyclable metals and turned into a premier recreational destination. This project is possible through a collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources and Ameren Missouri and creates a ‘green’ project that’s good for the environment and for outdoor enthusiasts! The trail will eventually connect with the KATY Trail and will be an amazing 457 miles long. When finished, it will reach from the KATY trail all the way to Kansas City, traveling along the Rock Island Rail Lines to run through Missouri towns like: Pleasant Hill, Windsor, Beaufort and Washington.
